Sharnell Avery (RYT, RMT)

Growing up in Fremantle, Western Australia, Sharnell was born to a First Nations Australian father and Indigenous New Zealand mother. Being active from an early age, this lifestyle helped her to represent WA in hockey, surfing, karate, dance and basketball. Sharnell later went on to win a scholarship to study dance at John Curtin College of the Arts.
After working within the busy office sector, Sharnell branched out to study Remedial & Sports Therapies. After graduating from Endeavour College (Melbourne), she worked as a Sports Trainer and Conditioning & Rehabilitation Assistant for over 9-years with the AFL’s North Melbourne Kangaroos. It was here, in the high intensity approach of top level football, that she realised the importance of mental Health and Wellbeing during times of recovery. This is when she discovered yoga and mindfulness.
Sharnell has been practicing mindfulness movement and yoga for over 25-years and hopes to bring these techniques to low socio-economic groups and Indigenous communities.
She volunteers at local Youth Group organisations and community centres. Sharnell is an Executive Board Member for Yogazeit Ltd., the Owner and Director of Recovery Room – Remedial & Sports Therapy and Society Yoga and Head Coach for the Rossmoyne Junior Football Club Y5/6 Girls team.
She’s a mum of one awesome daughter and loves being in the ocean, going to live music gigs and being with family and friends.
